The role of public diplomacy in development of friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Latvia

Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries hosted a virtual meeting dedicated to Latvia Independence Day.

Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a virtual meeting on “The role of public diplomacy in development of friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Latvia”, dedicated to Latvia Independence Day.

The event was organized by the Committee in cooperation with the Latvian Embassy in Uzbekistan and Uzbekistan – Latvia Friendship Society.

Deputy Chairman of the Committee V. Tian congratulated everyone on the Independence Day of Latvia and noted that friendly relations between the two countries have been successfully developing for more than a quarter of a century, especially in art and culture.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mihails Popkovs, on behalf of the Embassy and on his own behalf, expressed gratitude for organizing the meeting on the significant day for Latvia – the 102nd anniversary of declaration of independence of the Republic of Latvia. He noted the high positive level of bilateral cooperation based on strong friendship, mutual understanding and trust. It was noted that prospects for cooperation between the two countries are very broad. There is great potential in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas, education and tourism.

At the meeting, development of tourism, attraction of investments, and establishment of humanitarian educational ties were discussed.
