Yesterday, Information and Mass Communications Agency under the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan has held a briefing on “Priority directions of the state policy in strengthening religious tolerance and interethnic harmony in society” within the framework of the Week of Tolerance in Uzbekistan (November 9-16) under the slogan “Enlightenment and Interethnic Tolerance”, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent with reference to UzA.
It was attended by representatives of various organizations, heads of national cultural centers, friendship societies and religious denominations, as well as journalists.
Favorable conditions created for the activities of national cultural centers and friendship societies with foreign countries were noted at the event.
There are 163 Christian organizations, 8 Jewish communities, 6 Baha’i communities, a Buddhist temple, Hare Krishna society, and interfaith Bible society of Uzbekistan.
The Week includes an exhibition of books by representatives of different nationalities on “Interethnic harmony and friendship – key to development», a photo exhibition about the activities of friendship societies with foreign countries, as well as an international online conference and other spiritual-enlightenment events.
